Not
too many up-do's made their way down the carpet. Standouts though
were Jennifer Hawkins and Sonia Kruger, both of whom wore
their hair loosely piled up with a slightly rougher, textured
finish.
Styling tip - the starting point for an up-do is always
volume. Use heated rollers, like Remington's Body Waves (RRP $53.95)
to build some body into the hair prior to styling.
Body Waves have a wax core which retain heat - simply put them
into dry hair after showering, and leave them until they cool.
Meanwhile, you have time to squeeze yourself into your Alex Perry
gown and do your make-up prior to styling your hair.
2. If it curls, the curl stays
loose.
Perfectly
modelled by international guest, Jessica Alba, the latest
curl is a tumbling wave rather than a corkscrew. Local celebs
who did it well include Lisa McCune's more casual style and by
Ada Nicodemou in a more formal do.
Styling tip - the bigger the barrel, the looser the curl.
Make curling easy with a wide-barrelled curling tong like Remington's
Curls Curls Curls (RRP $43.95), which offers three different-sized
barrel options, including the huge 50mm tong. With a Ceramic and
Teflon surface this tong protects against hair damage, and is
easy to use with a swivel cord and high heat, to 180 degrees.
3. If it's straight, let the ends flick out
TV royalty Kerri-Anne Kennerley and comedienne, Jane Kennedy
both showed how straightened hair works best right now with a
light flick to the ends.
Poker straight hair has its place, but looks so much dressier
with this fresh new twist.
Styling
tip - straighten hair after shampooing with the Remington
Wet2Straight Slim Straightener ($103.95). Then you can use the
straightener to flick the ends out, or if you find that technique
too hard to manage, try a small tong, like Remington's Curl It
(RRP $22.95)
