Product: Australis
- Powder Cream Foundation

I'm
thoroughly surprised just how great this product is. Foundation
is normally one makeup product that I don't skimp on -
only Chanel, Laura Mercier, Yves Saint Laurent, etc ever
go near my skin. This Australis compact provides a smooth
cream to powder finish that's completely blendable and
flawless. There is neither the dreaded powdered mask look
nor any heaviness on the skin that cream compacts can
often feel.
My skin is definitely going through a good patch at the
moment, it is very clear, but still it's far from perfect
- eg. it can be quite blotchy & uneven in the morning.
Yet very little of this foundation is needed to smooth
the texture and provide a flawless finish. Of course nothing
beats compacts for super speedy application in the morning
and for easy touch ups. Only a couple of negatives. 1)
Only 4 shades available so a good match may be hard to
find. 2) The sponge, while providing a good finish, leaves
a latex smell that lingers for a short while. Otherwise
excellent value for money!

I'm
not really a foundation person at all, so I was a bit
sceptical about using this product. I have tried liquid
foundations but never a 'cream to powder' foundation before
- and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Application
took a little experimenting. I initially thought the colour
might be a bit too dark for me (Discreetly Beige), but
when applied lightly it was perfect.
My face didn't feel like it was 'caked' on with product
and it lasted throughout most of the day. And I loved
that it has a 15+ SPF - great for day wear. I was worried
that my skin may dry out, but this didn't happen and my
T-zone stayed shine free. I would buy this product again
maybe in a different shade as I think it is excellent
value at $13.45. The packaging of the foundation was excellent.
I carried it with me in my handbag.

I
wasn't sure how matte the product would be, considering
it looks like a cream in the compact. I struggle with
oily skin so I was worried that this would make my skin
look even oilier throughout the day. The foundation goes
on smoothly and like the description claims, it turns
to a powder finish. The shade I received suited my skin
as it is still quite tanned from summer, however I may
not be able to wear it into winter when my skin goes fairer.
I used this product for touch ups to my already made-up
face throughout the day and it had much better coverage
than the compact powders I usually use. The texture is
quite unusual in the compact, it's a heavy cream similar
to some concealers, however it applies beautifully. I
found that it didn't cake too much even though I was applying
it over the top of my regular foundation.
I was initially concerned that it might not be matte enough
for my oily skin, however it did a great job of keeping
me shine free. The compact contains a sponge that does
a great job of applying the product. You can use the corners
of the sponge to apply foundation to tricky parts like
under your eyes and your nose. Definitely one for the
desk drawer.

I
had not used a powder cream foundation for ages as my
skin is quite oily and I find they do not usually suit
me. However, this product is great. It glides on beautifully
with the sponge provided and blends very evenly.
It is very light and natural and it was hours before I
found I needed a very light touch up. The colour was perfect
for me and I had several comments about how fresh my skin
looked. As I always try to choose products with an SPF,
I will certainly use this one again. It is excellent value.

This
foundation has quite a plain packaging with a very thin
application sponge. I found that this foundation didn't
really suit my skin type as it didn't really set properly
and was a bit flaky on my drier cheeks. Even after 30
mins on my skin it was still coming off on my phone and
glasses.
